ABOUT HER

Aastha is a mother of two daughters and has a loving husband. She has been a primary school teacher for 15 years. She had always been the most loved teacher. She loved teaching absolutely. Her husband got transferred to Delhi and they had to move from Kanpur. One of her daughters had just got into class 11th and is struggling with the sudden change in academics and school culture. Aastha has managed to find a job in one of the schools nearby. They had just moved into a new apartment and some minor construction work was still going on. With all this fiasco of the new job with long working hours, a kid struggling at school and the constant work of construction of house was taking a toll on her. So she quit her job and became a housewife. Initially she was happy thinking that she needed a well-deserved break from working. After a while it started to get on to her. They had moved to a new place like Delhi wherein they knew very few people, there weren’t any friends to mingle with and she was left watching television the entire day. With the kids going to school and then tuition there was nobody at home the entire day. She started feeling that she was only a “caretaker” of the house. One other feeling that started creeping in was that she no longer earns her own money. She put on a lot of weight due to binge eating and no exercise which further stopped her from socializing.
