5 Strengths

The top five strengths that help me out with my IT Management job are leadership, communication, goal setting, managing time, and critical thinking. I have been a federal employee now since 1992. I have spent a part of that time on active duty in the Marine Corps, a now as a federal civilian worker at the Pentagon working for the Department of Defense. Below I will outline the top five strengths that have helped me develop into the Information Technology leader I am today.

Leadership:

I have been in two wars in defense of our county and have exceled in mission accomplishment. I have lead fire teams, squads, and platoons while in the Marine Corps to development teams, change/quality control teams, and project management teams currently at the Department of Defense. I have always had a keen ability to lead and motivate people to accomplish the mission. Leadership involves knowing who you are and knowing who the people are you lead. I have recently accomplished a three year long Identity and Access Management process for over 4 mission different personas in the Department of Defense. The entire project had over 800 different milestones that involved over 360 personnel from architect teams from the five different Armed Forces agencies in accomplishing this particular mission.

Communication:

Communication is another one of my strengths that I use on a daily basis in my chosen IT Management field. I am really good at being able to articulate the technical people with the business people. I am usually the bridge between the IT technicians and the business analyst. I can communicate to the developers and help them understand the requirements for the business lines and in explaining to the business people how the IT solutions align with their business needs.
