This paper will deal with a case analyzing a bargaining situation where a public administration has been promoted to a higher position in which the person will need to relocate to a different city and during the relocation transition the purchase of a home will be required in the new city. In this paper the distributive bargaining skills will be implemented in the steps to getting to the settlement or what is known as the closing state.

Distributive bargaining can be described as a method where two parties work in order to divide resources that are fixed. The resource may be money and both parties will try to maximize their share of resources. In this scenario one need to begin with preparation where all the relevant information is gathered for the negotiation process, then recognize the situation, set a reservation price that is good for you, use the bracketing method, use of the common social norms, and learn the role of framing in this negation process so that this transition may go smoothly. When buying a house one need to realize that a house purchase is something that’s generally open to negotiations. People who usually sell already have the general idea that negotiations may take place as well as terms and conditions and other concerns of a buyer.

Negotiations will begin when the first initial offer is made with the final purchase price falling somewhere in the bracket to your advantage hopefully, but only if the BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement) which should be determined before negotiations begin this will be
