Persuasive Speech

The topic I chose is; if you had the chance to discuss a very important issue with President Barack Obama, what would it be? How will you convince him to undergo this change?

I have had about a thousand conversations in my own head about different topics I would discuss with the president and picking one was a little difficult. The one I see that is important in our country is immigration reform for illegal immigrants. Now, this country was built by immigrants who came to this country to make a better life. I am all for making a better life for one’s self and family, the problem is how people come to this country. Illegal immigrants are coming into this country by the droves, since the possibility of immigration reform was announced.

Why should immigration reform be down away with? We are rewarding people for committing a crime, yet at least half of our country is living under the poverty line of twenty thousand dollars or unemployed. In 2010, the population in the United States grew by hundred million people. The twenty five years leading up to 2010, is how long it took for the population to grow that much in this country.

What needs to be done is have them found and deported from this country. If you cross a border illegally in another country, you are either thrown in jail or killed on the spot. Illegal immigration is one of the reasons why our country went into an economic downfall and still in it. They are taking our jobs, not paying taxes and using up our resources. What I’m proposing, finding and deporting illegals, is a slap on the wrist.
