Part I – Assignment Description

Your assignment as a private consultant is to set up a network for an office building. You’ve been asked to provide estimates and a network design for the office.

The Office is spread out on a single floor of a building.

The setup is as follows:

* 46 computers and 1 server

* 15 which run wirelessly

* Notebooks

* 30 run into the LAN

* 5 of these computers, 1 in each office

* 1 computer in the reception desk

* Each group of cubicles has 5 (there are 5 groups)

* Server goes in the Server Room

* This is a separate room only for the servers

* 5 networked printers

* You decide where these printers will be placed

* 2 networked scanners

* You decide where the scanners should be placed

Part II – Documentation to be submitted

All Documentation will be submitted in the order that they appear below. Note that this is NOT 1 page per item. Be thorough, explain.

I. Assignment Description

Give me an introduction. Explain why you are providing this estimate and design. Tell me why I should choose your estimates and network above all the others.

* Please stay away from “I will do this and that”. You are a company; what is your company going to do to get this done

II. Costs (Research)

Give me an estimate of what it would cost to set up the office with all the equipment stated above, plus what other equipment you will need.

Take into consideration the cost of racks for mounting servers, routers, hubs, switches, cables and patch panels; all equipment that you will use.

Also, take into consideration the labor and how long it would take to purchase and install the computers.

THERE IS NO TAX FOR LABOR

Remember, specific brands are not needed, just costs.
