Introduction

Oracle Corporation is an American computer technology corporation based in Redwood City, California. The company specializes in developing and marketing computer hardware systems and enterprise software. Oracle is the second-largest software maker after Microsoft Corporation based on revenue (Wikipedia, 2014). Oracle has developed or obtained their own line of enterprise software solutions for mid-size businesses that offer a variety of features. Oracle’s current products for enterprise resource planning software for mid-size businesses include JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Cloud/Fusion ERP, and PeopleSoft Enterprise (Oracle, 2014). PeopleSoft merged with JD Edwards in 2003, with JD Edwards software focusing on smaller organizations than PeopleSoft (Wikipedia, 2014). Oracle purchased PeopleSoft in 2004, providing Oracle with ERP solutions previously developed by JD Edwards and PeopleSoft. Oracle markets their mid-size business ERP solutions as “enterprise-class technology at an affordable price” (Oracle, 2014).

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne enterprise software is designed for multiple platforms and Oracle claims it is the first enterprise software solution to be able to run all of its applications from an Apple IPad (Oracle, 2014). The modules offered by EnterpriseOne all fall under seven major functional categories; financial management, project management, asset lifecycle management, order management, manufacturing management, mobile solutions, and reporting. Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne contains a total of over eighty applications. EnterpriseOne is designed to be fully moddable and adaptable as an organization needs (Oracle, 2014). A company can select one singular application to begin with and eventually grow into a full implementation utilizing all eighty applications.
