Residential care

Residential care is where a person leaves their home to be cared for in safe and secure home environment.

Race relation Act 2000 in residential home

In residential home this means that all support must be designed and delivered in such a way that no individual will be treated less fairly because of their race or ethnicity because in residential home there are different race and ethnic. staffs has to follow this legislation by promoting race equality central to the way public authorities and eliminate unlawful race discrimination under Race Relations Amendment Act 2000.which requires all public bodies like authorities and primary care trusts to review their policies and procedures also remove discrimination for these policies and procedures.

For example, in residential home a white English resident with the same condition and circumstance as a black African resident had received support that was more favourable.

Right to be respect

As you work in residential home you must protect the rights and promote the interests of service users.

In the residential home care provider must respect the right of service users while seeking to ensure that their behaviour does not harm themselves other people. Even if a person has been convicted of serious crime staffs should be treating with respect. This Act gives right to the service users to be listened to by the staffs and communicate with them in a preferable manner.

Respecting diversity and different cultures and values, respecting culture and belief it is important in health and social care setting because in residential home there are different cultures, religions and beliefs, staff should still be treated with respect.
