1. How did Turner get himself into this situation?

Turner’s situation is a confusing one as he is caught between many different problems attached to many different people. The main issue Turner is facing is the control from his boss Cardullo who prohibits him from doing his work with strong limitations that are not open or consideration or change. Turner is supposed to be in an executive management position that may lead to him taking over one day but his ideas and work get shot down regularly by the Cardullo. How Turner got him self into this problematic situation is by not doing extensive research into the companies. Turner worked hard to understand the business but never understood the people, relations, or hierarchy before accepting the job, which lead to him be in his current predicament. Turner said him self he wished to have met the employees after the interview but never took steps to do so. If he had made more of an effort towards this objective he may have found some of the underlying issues revolving the company and may have thought twice before accepting the offer so hastily.

2. What did Turner and Cardullo bring to the situation that should ensure success? What did each bring that might lead to failure

From the outside looking Turner and Cardullo seemed to be a perfect match. Turner a young ambitious manager looking to get more responsibilities and more. Then Cardullo who was thinking of releasing some of his control and slowly working his way to retirement. In an ideal world this would have worked out but from reading the case we know that the outcome was quite different. The problems that were brought to the table by each party were Cardullo seemed to release more control then originally anticipated but didn’t release the final decisions or boundaries leaving Turner in a difficult situation to produce results that fit the companies needs and Cardullo’s. Turner’s issues were that he tried to hard to make everything work and run smoothly....
