Abstract

English learning can be influenced by various kinds of factors, such as motivation, technology, learning style and environment. A suitable environment can be directly related to the high quality of the English learning. Therefore, choosing a suitable for English learners is necessary. This experiment was aimed to discover the effects of the environment on English learning. The first founding was that quiet environment is beneficial for English learners and the environment with music was disturbed for learners. The second founding was that between an environment with an English lyrics song and one with Chinese lyrics song, the former was more interferential.

Introduction

English learning is a important role in university study, while it is easily influenced by various kinds of factors, such as learning style and learning environment. A suitable environment can be directly related to the high quality of English learning. There has been substantial scientific agreement in the past 30 years that aircraft noise had a negative influence ion reading English, (Kendall B. Green, Bernard S. Pasternack, Roy E. Shore, 1983). Another research proved that background music made the participants got a worse result in reading than in silence (Thumin S.E. Ransdell, L. Gilroy. 2011). This two research were too broad to get a clearly findings. The experiment was done more detailed that the method of study on classification was used. The experiment was aimed to discover the effects of the environment on English learning. Many factors such can influence English learning, such as music. The experiment contained that which music has a positive effects or negative effects and which is the most influence during light music, fast-pace music, English songs, Chinese songs and quiet environment.
