1. From time to time, various groups clamor for import restrictions or tariffs on foreign-produced goods, particularly automobiles. How might these be helpful? Harmful?

Tariffs will be helpful for domestic automobile companies, because these companies will be able to sell their automobile cheaper than an imported foreign-produced automobile. Harmful because it will hurt the foreign-produced automobile company.

Organizations compete using various marketing and operations functions.

3. Explain the importance of identifying and differentiating order qualifies and order winners.

The importance of identifying and differentiating order qualifies and order winners is because they are almost complete opposites. Order qualifies are characteristics that customers perceive as minimum standards of acceptability to be considered as a potential for purchase, and order winners are characteristics of an organization’s goods or services that cause it to be perceived as better than the competition.

4. Select two stores you shop at, and how they compete.

I select Kroger and Walmart, they compete in price and quality because they both claim to have to the lowest price and good quality. Also they compete in location because they are both located in my town within two miles of each other.

5. What is the Balanced Scorecard and how is it useful?

The balanced scorecard is a top-down management system that organizations can use to clarify their vision and strategy and transform them into action. It is useful because it helps organizations focus on how they differ from the competition in each of the four areas if their vision is realized.

Strategies are plans for achieving organizational goals and tactics are the methods and actions taken to accomplish strategies.
