How to learn swim

Summer is a part of every year. During this time many people go out to enjoy the pools and beaches. For many years, this was not my favorite time of the year because I did not know how to swim. Learning something new can be a scary experience. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do was learn how to swim. I was always afraid of the water. It can be dangerous to swim in deep waters if you really don’t know what you are doing. Fatal accidents may happen if you don’t have the first aid that you need right away. Yet I decided that swimming was an important skill that I should learn. I also thought it would be good exercise and help me to become physically stronger. Therefore, one event at OCCC taught me that, in deed, swimming is all the above and more.

I was never really afraid of water, but the thought of swimming around in it never appealed to me. I knew that learning how to swim would be very important later in life and would help me to be a stronger person. I did not, however, realize that swimming would not only be fun, but also help me to become more confident. One day I decided to learn swimming with the help of my instructor, Helen.” I confessed to her, “I am fearful of drowning because I didn’t know how to swim.” She encouraged me, “You will be swimming in one day. I believe in your ability. Just make a try.” I did not believe it would be an easy task. The pool was long and wide. When I went into the pool, she dragged me deeper. The edges were far from me. It was a strange feeling like if something bad was going to happen. She started to show me how to move my arms and legs in the water. I felt like if the water made it hard for me to move. She was taller than me with longer legs and arms that made it easy for her to move in the water. After some time of practicing, she pushed me to swim with her hold-up so that I would not drown.
