Summary of the article

The author’s objective in the article is to analyse the management style in the twentieth century. As there are increasingly more global, demand and changes in the market, the system of beliefs and value for management and organisation are not good enough nowadays. Therefore, a new model is needed for the organisation to be change. In this article, it shows the important of the new change in today’s culture.

The author had proposed a way for the organisation. As both management by instructions and management by objective will result in inadequate. So management by values act as a strategic leadership tool to redesign the culture in the organisation and prepare for the future. Management values is to manage the culture of the company, strengthening it day by day and always ready to face the unknowns of the future.

Management by value is a new way of understanding and applying knowledge to idea. There are many managers are already practicing this strategic over the world.

The author has also show the main purpose for management by value. It has three purposes: to simplify, to guide and to secure commitment. Simplify is to absorb the organisation complexity created by the need to adapt to change. Guiding is to strategic vision towards the future of the company. Secure commitment must be integrated with policy, with the aim of developing commitment to perform high quality work.

Management by value helps by gathering efforts toward the achievement of the strategic vision of the company aim. Management by value is improving to become an overall framework for redesign or change the culture.

The author also highlight that the shared beliefs and values is the most important to understand and facilitating human conduct during work.
