Introduction:-

This assignment requires me to choose an organised group I currently belong to and uses examples from situations that have occurred to explain the relationship between organisational structure and culture. The work-based organisational group I have chosen to use, as a base for the forthcoming answers of this assignment, is my current occupational role as an Assistant Branch Manager for the London Wembley Branch of commercial vehicle rental company, A1 National Van Hire UK Ltd. My organisational group consists of 7 vehicle drivers, 1 head driver and my superior, the Branch Manager.

A1 National Van Hire UK Ltd is an independent company specialising in commercial vehicles and minibuses for the general public and corporate consumers all over the country. Using the experience of my occupational role, I will attempt to compare the different approaches to management and leadership that not only my manager and I use, but of the whole workforce involved. I will also discuss the ways A1 National Van Hire as an organisation as well as organisations in general, provide motivation for its employees.

When learning of a culture an organisation has, we have to look at the way it is organised internally and take into account aspects such as the rules that are implemented, the methods and techniques of its procedures and the values and beliefs the company portrays and holds.

To support this definition further, I decided to use the culture model generated by Middlemist & Hitt (1998), which emphasises on the key elements of culture required to gain a deeper understanding of culture in organisations. (IBAM RDI 2011)...
