Introduction
The gospel of John is considered by most to be the most profound book in the Bible. It communicates perhaps the most profound truths about Jesus Christ found anywhere in scripture.
John 20:30-31 tells us the purpose of this gospel, “The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name” (NLT). In the Gospel of John there are eight recorded signs and miracles that Jesus Christ performed. This paper will briefly describe each miracle and how they reveal the deity of Jesus Christ.
Turning Water into Wine
The first miracle of Jesus Christ and the first time he revealed His glory took place in Cana in Galilee, which was recorded in John 2:1-11. Jesus and His disciples were invited to attend a wedding celebration of which His mother was already present. During the course of the celebration the wine ran out, and Mary seeing a need for more wine asked Jesus to perform a miracle.
