Drug Use and Social Justice

Drug use amongst society has become a big problem especially, with the criminal justice system. Becoming addicted to a drug substance can become overbearing to any individual and this tends to keep people going back to the drug regardless of how hard they fight to stay away from it. Every drug user has reasons that had brought them to using drugs and the author suggests that the cycles used and followed by the user prior to the user seeking treatment has to be changed. If a change does not take place in the offender’s life then, relapse may occur. If this happens then, the recidivism rates will never decrease for; it will be a continuous cycle of drug use and arrest being made. Rehabilitation programs are offered to those that are placed in the criminal justice that had committed a crime. With this type of help being available to addicts, it will help deter men and woman from continuously committing crime. Some individuals need support and if that support is not found then, they turn to committing crime. Once the individual receives the help that he or she needs then, it will begin to help stabilize the economy along with benefiting society in many other ways. This paper is going to discuss the importance of the criminal justice system, how it operates, and the constitution based upon this topic, social equality and fairness and how the criminal justice system helps to restore social justice.

There are many programs that have been implemented as a resolution to helping with the drug problem of today. Programs such as AA, drug rehabilitation centers, boot camps, parenting training, educational courses and etc. has been put into place to help deter people from continuing the drug use and helping them in becoming productive members of society.
