Introduction
As a technical maintenance manager in the Aviation industry, I feel that there are many aspects that he or she should possess before he or she can successfully manage his or her employee. These aspects are:
• Possess the technical knowledge about how aircraft operates; its limitations and performance.
• Familiar with aviation law and regulations as well as the legal issues that affects the aviation industry.
• Understand and identify what are the safety issues in Aviation industry and how to manage them.
• Utilize basic business management skills and supervisory techniques.
In module 7, we had talked about the importance of management towards Aircraft Systems and Maintenance. As a manager, I feel that it is essential to understand all aspects of the aviation industry in order to lead and guide my employee with the right decision. As such I am going to talk about the fundamental of the structure of a typical aircraft and its flight controls. It is important for a technical manager whom is leading a group of aircraft technicians to know how an aircraft operates. I had been working as a technician for five years and there are many unforeseen situations whereby a manager has to come out with a decision in the shortest time. Such situations include changing of aircraft parts, flying an aircraft with acceptable defections or lack of manpower to work. It requires a manager’s good judgment and knowledge to accomplish good decisions.
