“THE CROW EATERS”

BY BAPSI SIDWA

INTRODUCTION TO THE AUTHOR

Babsi sidwa is an English author of Pakistani origin. Her parents were Zoroastrians who later on took the family to Lahore. She did her BA in 1957 from Kinnard College in Lahore. Sidwa has been married twice and currently resides in the US she is a Punjabi Parsi Pakistani. She has taught at various universities like university of Houston, Rice University, Columbia University etc.

WHY I CHOOSE THIS BOOK ?

The author Babsi sidwa has her material very well organized and is such an author who writes in flair. While reading the book all along I became quite a lot fond of her writing which was so illuminating and the way she has thrown light on each of her character is just remarkable and makes it a very memorable book to read. Throughout the whole novel she has described Lahore in such a way which is very much convincing and charming. What I found was by reading the book was that the way she has conveyed the overall story she has kept in mind the place and time which itself shows how deep her understanding is of the kind people and place of that time .She herself being a parsi and along with this novel “the crow eaters” she has with that provided the reader a lot of information about the parsi way of life. The book is an overall mixture of everything, it has both humor and drama making it a very entreating book to read and thus a book which I would also like to encourage others to read as well without a second thought. Her description of the Parsi’s is very innovative, talkative, and smart. It is a very funny novel and when once one starts reading it, the reader builds up a connection with the characters of the novel which are fictional but...
