Ethical Decision-Making Analysis

Life is all about choices. There is not a day that you do not have to make a decision whether it comes to what you make for dinner or if you have to do something out in town that day. Some are easy but some can be frustrating and these decisions can either have a negative consequence or a positive outcome. Then you have your ethical decisions which are made a lot in our lives and sometimes we don’t know we have made them. These can be anywhere from telling the truth, doing homework, helping somebody or just doing your job. We have learned this week of 5 ethical theories that intertwine with most of these decisions we make every day and here are some recent ones I have made lately.

I work at a plant making automotive air conditioning lines for Chrysler and I am the finisher of the part as it comes through the assembly line and pack it out and put it in the box to be shipped. I had a close friend who just got fired because of a decision I made recently. The whole day he kept saying he needed a couple days off of work so he can catch up on some stuff he needed to. My friend works on the tester which is the last machine the part goes through to make sure it doesn’t air leak, before it is sent to me. Right before we went to lunch he told me don’t worry he rig the tester to fry its card and we would be able to go home as soon as we got back from lunch. The problem was this can only be done on purpose. While we were gone at lunch our tech decided to run parts because we were behind rate. After a couple of parts the tester fried. To make a long story short they were going to fire our tech and I felt compelled to say something about what was said to me. I believe I said something is because it’s morally right why should somebody who only thinks about himself, get away with something, and our tech who has a family be fired for something they...
