Civil War: the Change of Lifestyle That Women Faced

During America’s existence many wars had broken out. One of the main and considered to be the bloodiest wars that America had faced was the American civil war. The Civil War had broken out during the year 1861 and was fought till 1865. Because this particular war took place within America and its’ states, this war was also known as the War Between the States. The states from all over America were involved and even the southern “slave” states were included when they had declared their secession and formed the confederate states of America. The Civil War had also grown out of ancient strains and differences about American life and politics. Over 80 years, in the Northern and Southern states, people had been discussing the problems that eventually led to war such as: economic cultural values, the degree and spread of the Federal government, guidelines and practices, and, most significantly, the part of slavery within American society. This war had changed America! Even though the civil war changed slavery, it also had a tremendous impact on women. The war had altered the lifestyle of women and their roles in life and America.

The causes of the Civil War were multifaceted, and have been controversial since the war began. Way before the war had begun; during the 1850’s slavery was the essential source of rising political tension. This whole time the Republican Party was strong-minded to avoid slavery from spreading, and for that, the leaders from the southern states had threatened the secession if Abraham Lincoln won the election during the year 1860. However, because Abraham Lincoln was victorious during the election, a good amount of the southern whites sensed that disunion had become their only choice. During in which the time, not all of the people from the southern states saw themselves as fighting to preserve slavery.
