Survivor?

Mid-June. Summer breathes out as the drizzle tickles our skin this afternoon. Only a few strides to our house and I’ll prepare that instant soup I’m excited to cook.

“Y’know, this drizzle isn’t so bad.”

A black silhouette quickly overtakes me towards my house. Her long, luscious hair continues to sway despite the stronger drizzle. Crap, I should hurry like her too; this little shower is turning into a mournful rain.

We eventually arrive at the porch just before the big drops plummet down. With the loud clacking sound of raindrops on the roof, a waft of cold breeze greets my face.“Looks like we’re lucky.”

“We sure are.” The longhaired girl removes her hoodie sweater, revealing a thinner dark blue shirt. She rummages through her removed sling bag for keys. The rain pours harder.

“Hm…I’m definitely going to enjoy our meal then. Better make it palatable!”

“Do you even know what that means?”

My quip returns firewith a jab to my side.

“Are you mocking my English skills? Even if I’m an immigrant and lived in the Philippines during my childhood, I rarely mess up my words!” She didn’t answer my question. She probably doesn’t know what palatable means then. Her physical strength upgraded lately though…

Shortly follows our daily routine: We quickly change to our casuals and I prepared our meal while she sets the TV on.

“Man, news today are quite on the bad side huh?” I mutter upon hearing the news anchor. Sasha silently watches until the soup’s aroma fills the house. She isn’t quite delighted…

“ANCHOVY SOUP!?”
