How Adolf Hitler Almost Ruled Europe

In 1889, one of the most ruthless leaders in history was born in Austria. Hitler was not a citizen of Germany as he rose through the ranks in politics on the back of the National Socialist German Workers Party, or the Nazi Party. Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 and was the fourth of six children that moved to Germany when he was three years old. He lived in Germany until he committed suicide in 1945, which marked the end of World War II in Europe. Hitler was a member of the German army during the First World War, and he was even injured, but the wounds were not live threatening and he survived. He was accepted into the German army in 1914 even though at the time he was still a citizen of Austria. Even though he was not on the front lines he was at key battles and he was injured in the Battle of the Somme. Hitler did receive the Black Wound Badge as well as an Iron Cross First Class, which is given for bravery. Hitler was very patriotic and loved Germany and was very shocked and upset with the surrender of the Germans in 1918. He was especially angered by the Treaty of Versailles was very degrading and was very upset that Germany had to agree to be the scapegoat for the start of World War I. After World War I, Hitler was assigned to monitor the activities of the German’s Worker Party as an intelligence officer. This is where Hitler started to change as he gathered intelligence he realized that he had agreed with most of the anti-sematic views of German’s Worker Party, and was asked to join in 1919. After the Party changed its name to National Socialist German Worker’s Party, Hitler created on of the most recognizable and feared banners in the History of the world, the German flag with the white swastika surrounded by a red background.
