Police Corruption

Police corruption, has become an international problem and has been going on for decades now, which means citizens have no trust in the law enforcement. Corruptions is defined as, dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery. When it comes to police misconduct, this is when the police make improper actions on an individual and often results in miscarriage of justice or even discrimination. This also means that when the police obtain false information, police brutality, racial profiling, and sexual abuse. Police brutality occurs when a police officer uses excessive force, which means using excessive force is a violation of the person’s rights. Police brutality has a long history in America targeting the poor laborer workers in the late 1800s. In the next chapters we will discuss the extent of police corruption, misconduct, and brutality in the United States. We will discuss two cases, one that has to do with police corruption and misconduct, and the other cases about police brutality and the impact that it had on the individual that was attacked. The last topic explains the outcome of each case and why we agree with each case if we agree or disagree.

Throughout the years, police misconduct, corruption, and brutality had roamed through the streets of the United States. When looking into police misconduct, you may see that it is indeed an abuse of authority. Police corruption and misconduct can be used as a range of violations that can be criminal, civil, or procedural. A procedural violation is when an officer violates the rules and regulations of the police department; a criminal violation is when an officer violates the state and federal laws; an unconstitutional or civil violation is when they violate the rights of any given individual.
