Hispanic Americans have become a huge part of the United States economy. Hispanic American populations have grown so large that many Americans are learning to speak Spanish. I would like to discuss and summarize some information about Hispanic Americans. We will talk about four different groups of Hispanic Americans. The four groups we will discuss are Mexican Americans, Puerto Rican Americans, Cuban Americans, and Central/South American ethnic groups. I will go over things like economic status, religions, political status, and social status. You may have never even considered the differences between these groups. They do have some similarities but are very different and come from many different places. The reasons these groups have immigrated here makes you appreciate being an American. Some have political reasons, some groups come from poor economies, and some are trying to escape social situations. The numbers from 2006 showed that more than 15% of the United States population was Hispanic. It has been estimated that in the year 2050 we will have a population in the United States that is ΒΌ Hispanic Americans.

The first group that I would like to talk about is Mexican Americans. Mexican Americans are the biggest group out of all the Hispanic groups in America. They are located mainly in the Southwest but are located all over the United States now. Mexican Americans have found a place in this country and have been able to prosper quite well. Mexican Americans have been known to hold political office especially in Texas. The biggest controversy with Mexican Americans is the illegal immigration happening across the southern boarder. Some of them have been discriminated against and stereotyped even though they may be here legally. The population of Mexican Americans continues to grow every year.
