Happy and Biff’s confrontation by Linda is a turning point in this play. Linda has finally struck up the courage to scold her children, Happy and Biff’s ignorance is finally brought out in the open, Biff shows no pity for his father

When the reader finds out that Biff walked in on Willy’s affair, they make sense of all of Willy and Biff’s arguments. Biff’s attitude towards Willy changes completely, he desperately tries to protect Linda from this information, and it ultimately ruins Biff’s life.

Willy’s affair was the worst thing he could have done to his family. Because of this, Biff and Willy’s relationship completely changes, Biff’s life is ruined, and Willy commits suicide.

When Biff walks in on Willy’s affair with another woman, both know that the relationship between them will never be the same. Biff was always the favorite child over Happy. Happy is talking about how popular Biff is with girls while Biff dedicates the big, upcoming game to Willy. “WILLY [kisses BIFF] ‘Oh, Wait’ll I tell this in Boston!’” (Miller 1297) The fact that Happy is not really good at anything while his brother is a football star. Since Willy sees more of a future in Biff, he pays more attention to him. This relationship changed after the affair to the point where Biff barely stops by anymore.

“Linda: ‘How would I write to you? For over three months you had no address’

Biff: ‘I was on the move. But you know I thought of you all the time. You know that, don’t you, pal?” (1308)

It seems as if Biff avoids coming home and that it is not really just because he is “on the move”. Another thing to pick up on is what Biff actually says. He thinks of Linda all the time, not Willy. Although this is a small detail, it cannot go unnoticed because one reader may think that Biff is constantly thinking of Linda and Willy when, in fact, this is false.
