The Five Pillars of Islam

The central beliefs of Islam are considered Monotheism, which means the belief in one God. The name for the God of Islam is Allah. The Islamic people live to serve and worship Allah only. They also believe that god sent prophets to show them way of life that is pleasing to God. Elijah Muhammad is considered the last prophet that was sent by God. Islamic people are also supposed to follow the five pillars which are set forth through Qur’an. The five pillars are Belief and Witness, daily prayers, Zakat, fast and Haji. When all these are kept and followed it shows devotion to Allah

The first pillar talk about how the Islamic people are supposed to have belief and unity in God. They should also believe in the messages that where given through Muhammad. Witnessing by spreading truth is also a requirement. Those are faithful should share the message with others so that they can also be able to intelligent choices and create a moral lifestyle.

The second pillar is the daily prayers. There are five daily prayers that should be recited throughout the day at certain times of the day. Every time these prayers are recited the individual turns to the direction of the city of mecca and recites these prayers. The prayers come from the holy book or the Qur’an. Prayer is said to bring ne closer to God and strengthen the existence of God.

The third pillar is called Zakat which means charity or almsgiving, Muslims believe that the only way there prayers are accepted is by sharing with the less fortunate. At the end of every year the wealthy will give or donate at least two and half percent of their earning with the more needy Muslims. (fisher,2014) This is only to bring equality to Islamic religion.
