Introduction:

1. Good morning sir my name is Sergeant Franz Blanchard the platoon commander for second platoon.

2. This confirmation brief is deemed unclassified.

3. The purpose of this confirmation brief is to articulate my company’s mission to you in a manner that solidifies, in your mind, that I know my platoon’s mission.

Body:

1. Understanding of the commander’s intent:

a. Commander’s Intent: Due to the enemy’s small size and maneuverability, they are limited in their firepower and pure size. Because of the enemy is orientated in the manner they are, the commander’s intent is to defend in sector around Landing Zone (LZ) Hawk to neutralize the enemy’s forces before they can mass, thus exploiting the enemy’s Critical Vulnerability (CV).

b. Concept of Operations:

1. Scheme of Maneuver: At 0800, 2D Platoon, the Main Element of Bravo Company’s mission, will be inserted, via helicopter, into Landing Zone Hawk. Bravo Company will establish a perimeter north of LZ Hawk utilizing all three platoons. Immediately after insertion into the Landing Zone, 2D Platoon will move to the Objective Rally Point (ORP) designated by myself.

* Now, I have already decided the ORP for 2D Platoon will be ten yards from the northernmost point of LZ Hawk in order to establish reconnaissance.

The platoon will then navigate the terrain from the ORP approximately fifty yards from the northern most point of LZ Hawk in a staggered linear formation. One fire team from first and second squads will provide flanking support for the movement to the defense location.

2. Fire Support Plan: The purpose of the fire support plan is to eliminate the enemy within our battle area (above LZ Hawk) in order to deny the enemy access to the Forward Ammo Supply Point. I will be submitted a list of targets to the Company First Support Team (FST)....
