Doll House Act III Ending

Nora walks out the door without saying goodbye

Torvald: (chases Nora into street and screams) Nora!

Nora: What do you want?

Torvald: Nora, I want you Nora! I need you!

Nora: You don’t need me; I’m just another doll in your dollhouse. Maybe you should find another person to take my place; I don’t need to be controlled by a pathetic lowlife like you.

Torvald: How could you dare say such a thing, show some respect you ungrateful toy!

(Sudden silence)

Torvald: I’m sorry Nora that slipped out, I didn’t mean to say that! Oh my, what have I become?

Nora: See, this is not necessary in my life; I do not need a husband who can’t even tell when he’s being out of control and demanding (Torvald interrupts)

Torvald: I’m sorry Nora I just can’t see you go, I can’t live without you.

Nora: Yes you can live without me, you don’t need me in your life, you want me in your life. I’m just an accessory to you that you feel is necessary to have. Its time for to grow up and face reality. I don’t want you apart of my life in any way, shape or form. Am I making myself clear?

Torvald: Seriously Nora, if your joking please stop, I’ve learned my lesson ok.

Nora: Oh Torvald, how naive, this isn’t a joke. Throughout our marriage you might have treated me like a joke, so now I’m going to leave you like its funny. For the last time, this is goodbye. (Laughs uncontrollably)

Torvald: You sick psychotic fool! (Panics) No Nora you can’t leave! I can’t live without you, I won’t live without you! If I can’t live with you I won’t live at all!

Nora: Ha-ha well good luck with that. (Walks away and smiles)

Torvald runs into the house and pulls out his pistol. Meanwhile the kids were asleep and they wake up due to all the yelling from Torvald. They decide to go outside and see what’s happening
