What is the proper role for a multinational firm in cases where government regulations across countries are in conflict?

A multinational firm is a corporation that has its facilities and other assets in at least one country other than its home country. Such companies have offices and/or factories in different countries and usually have a centralized head office where they co-ordinate global management. Very large multinationals have budgets that exceed those of many small countries (www.investopedia.com).Multinational corporations (MNC) are frequently separated into several expansive segments. Those segments include vertical integration, horizontal integration, or diversified integration; they place great emphasis on focusing on creativity but in the latter productive years (Satterlee, 2009, p.30).

UBS is a Swiss banking establishment that assists patrons in the United States to conceal money that reserves or removes the right for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from ceasing, taxing or virtually seeing/touching the money. Regardless of the fact the UBS was allegedly in this predicament the company also found itself in a position that would not allow them to make positive strides, an American, who was a great asset to the US when organizing its case against UBS, was also suspected in partaking in these practices.

Considering UBS is a MNC they were ultimately accountable and in charge of coercing the banking rules and regulations of the nations of whom they supply certain services. According to Satterlee 2009, and applying the MNC business mantra coupled with UBS’s position, they would have naturally expanded their geographical capacity (p. 55).
