Give an account of the importance and the significance of the healing of the ten lepers and the healing of the Blind Man at Jericho

Indeed in today’s society a miracle is thought of as something extraordinary. It is seen as a direct intervention by God that breaks all the normal laws of nature. Indeed they are something that cannot be explained (Cooper). In Luke's Gospel Jesus performs twenty specific miracles and these can be categorised into 4 types. These are: Firstly, Healings e.g. 4:38-39 Jesus heals many people. Secondly, Exorcisms e.g. 8:26-39 Jesus Heals a man with Demons. Thirdly, Nature Miracles e.g. 5:1-11 Jesus calls the first disciples. And Finally Raisings from the dead e.g. 7:11-17 Jesus raises a widow's son (shows Jesus' concern for women also).

In regards to Healings, there are characteristics that can be seen as consistent in the majority of healings. These include: a plea by he/she wanting healed, healing by word or by touch by Jesus, sometimes from a distance and that of the crowd response. And so they are the characteristics we can conclude are general with healings.

Two prime examples of apparent and significant healings in Luke's Gospel would be that of the Healing of the Ten Lepers (17:11-19) and the Healing of the Blind Man at Jericho (18:35-43) and so in this essay I am going to describe the content and importance and significance of these healings in terms of Jesus' ministry.

In terms of the first healing miracle, that is The Healing of the ten Lepers (17:11-19) this is what happened. “As Jesus made his way to Jerusalem, he went along the border between Samaria and Galilee. He was going into a village when he was et by ten men suffering from a dreaded skin disease. They stood at a distance and shouted “Jesus! Master! Take pity on us!” Jesus saw them and said to them, “Go, and let the priests examine you.” On the way they were made clean. When one of them saw he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw...
