The temporal lobes are one of four lobes, they are as follows, (1). Limbic system. (2). the olfactory cortex. (3). Amygdala. (4). Hippocampus. These four regions or lobes as they are also called are part of the cerebral cortex and are located on both the lower left and right sides of the brain. While the temporal lobe consists of two parts it serves the same general purpose and is associated with numerous functions. Such as receiving auditory information such as different sounds and speech from the ears and processes it into words we are able to understand. It is also responsible for the long term memory as well as our emotional responses. The temporal lobe also plays a big part in controlling our visual stimulation. The frontal lobe is located in the front of the brain and has three main parts. (1). the prefrontal cortex. (2). the premotor area. And, (3). The motor area. The premotor and motor areas of the frontal lobes contains nerves that control the voluntary muscle movement. The prefrontal cortex is the area that is most known for the expressions of our personalities as well as for the planning of certain behaviors. The main function of the frontal lobe is the ability to make choices based on actions and or consequences. Other actions performed by the frontal lobe are problem solving and planning. The frontal lobe also has several other significant functions such as, sexual behavior and the ability to control movement it is also the part of the brain that controls your mood swings. When it comes to disease of the mind such as Alzheimer’s disease or any type of serious mental illness such as schizophrenia these things are more often than not passed down from one generation to another. When the temporal lobes are damaged it can have devastating effects on the brain which will cause visual and auditory impairments on the brain. If the left temporal lobe is damaged, your perceptions of language and memory of words are impaired. (Simpson,...
