Liz Claiborne Inc. was founded in 1976 by Liz Claiborne, Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer, and Jerome Chazen in New York City. Liz Claiborne Inc. is a fashion industry that designs and markets an extensive range of women's and men's fashion apparel and accessories appropriate to wearing occasions ranging from casual to dressy. The company also markets fragrances, home furnishing, and shoes for women and men.

Liz Claiborne sells most goods in department stores that operate in 195 specialty and outlet stores. The company sells its products in the U.S. and in more than 60 other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, India, Germany, South Africa and many more.
