Introduction

We are attempting to compare and contrast of the virtue theory, utilitarianism, and deontological ethics. Each theory will reveal a common thread; however all possess distinct differences in explaining morality. To wrap things up a personal experience that displays related virtue, values, and moral concepts ties in to one of the theories.

Ethics and Morality

Morality simply put, is solely pertaining to make the appropriate decision, whereas ethics is a proper, logical way of thinking to arrive at a certain decision Ethics also places more emphasis on character of a person the possess the capacity, to accurately judge situation and apply rules accordingly.

Virtue theory

When you think of the virtue theory, can be clarified as ethics anchor by character. The Greek word for virtue is excellence which emphasizes morality (Boylan, 2009, p. 133).

So in other words, as you progress through life’s journey, you should strive to exude excellence in just as Daniel did as he remained God faithfully and served as an administrator during King Darius’s reign in spite of the pressure from his peers. Daniel 6:3 (New International Version)

Utilitarianism

Essentially with the utilitarianism theory large groups or such as community’s or teams tends to be the driving factor that influences decisions. Say that actions can be deemed appropriate if the outcome benefits the majority (Boylan, 2009, p.154). This theory also argues human will take precautionary measures to reduce pain and equally display same effort to achieve pleasure (Boylan, 2009, p.154).
