The Bible is made up of many stories and compelling people that make those stories come to life. There was a man who lived in the land of Uz, the bible does not exactly say where this land is today but most believe it is close to Arabia or Damascus. I chose Job because he was the greatest man of the East, and he was blameless and upright. Job had ten children with seven daughters and three sons. Job was a man of great wealth he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred donkeys. To maintain this many animals one would require a great deal of servants or workers which he had as well. The sons of Job would have great feasts and invite the sisters to eat and have a nice time. Job would have them purified after these feasts were over.

Early in the morning Job would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of his children, because he felt his children had sinned and cursed God in their hearts. The purpose of burnt offerings of that time was for a saint to show how one love God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love his neighbor as himself. These types of acts are what placed Job in such high regards with God in my opinion. He was always cognizant of placing God at the head of his life. A person that builds such a close and personal relationship with God brings despair to the evil one. Satan does not like it when people are close to God, he wants people to die and go to Hell. This relationship that Job had established with God is the basis for Job’s first test.

A conversation between God and Satan occurred whereas God was so pleased and proud of Job that he bragged about him to the evil one. God proceeded to tell Satan how blameless and upright Job was, and how he fears God and is totally against evil.
