2. Attendance
3. Reminders
B. Review
1. What is absolute value?
2. How do we get the absolute value of a number?
3. What is interval?
4. What are the kinds of interval notation?
5. In a real life situation how does interval affect you?
C. Motivation
Sing a song “My Cartesian”
D. Presentation
Today we will discuss about Cartesian Rectangular Coordinate System.
E. Explanation
A Cartesian plane consists of vertical and horizontal numbers perpendicular to each other at the point of origin. Points in a plane are located using coordinate axes. The horizontal line is called the x-axis and the vertical line is called the y-axis. The distance between any two points of the coordinate plane is the length of the line segment connecting them. To find the distance of any two points, distance formula is:
F. Generalization
1. What is a Cartesian coordinate system?
2. What do you call the lines on the plane?
3. What is the distance connecting two points?
4. How do you compute the distance?
5. Why is there a need to study distance formula?
G. Drill/Application
The class will be grouped into two and each member of the group will be given a coordinate. Each member will find the distance between their group mates.
H. Evaluation
On the graphing paper, plot the points on the Cartesian plane and find the distance between them.
1. P1(3,4)
2. P2(7,8)
3. P3(10,5)...
