Nowadays, video games have developed a lot from brown box to Ninetndo Dual Screen. Brown Box is the first game machine created by Ralph Baer which can show moving pictures through TV. Through development in video games, there are PlayStation3, Ninetndo Dual Screen, Xbox 360 in the current market. With more and more people start to play video games, more and more people try to discuss the beneficial and harmful aspects on playing video games. Actually playing video games can help people to improve some abilities like dynamic visual acuity, focusing for long periods of time and release their negative emotion; however, it will be harmful if people addicted to playing video games.

First, what benefits can gain from playing video games. Like Greenberg says in his article “Why the Supreme Court Should Rule that Violent Video Games are Free Speech”, make-believe violence appears to have many benefits for minors, such as relieving stress, releasing anger and help children cope with difficult feelings such as powerlessness and fear of real violence (456). People can do whatever they want to do in playing video games which they couldn’t do in the real world. For example, people can become very rich in the game named zillionaire. People can get money and houses from grabbing other players. But people may also lose all of the money if they don’t do well in the game. People may experience the feelings from high in the clouds to the ground. People can gain feelings from such kind of games which could help them to deal with these feelings and control their emotions in the real world. When people have negative emotions like anger, they can play Fight Technology Game to defeat their opponent to release anger.
