Effects of Large Population in China

Some economists think the large population of China is an important factor of its fast growing economy because many oversea companies and factories moved their facilities to china to reduce labor cost. However, over the years, many people found the large population has caused tons of problems in China. China has about 1.3 billion people. At the same time, Russia has 1.4 hundred million; Japan has 1.3 hundred million; and The United States has 3 hundred million. China's has the largest population in the world and it's increasing every year. The direct influences of the large population are living cost, intense competition in the job market, and environmental pollution.

First, high living cost is one of the bad sides of the huge population in China. Compared with the low income, the living cost is relatively high in China, especially the high house prices. As more and more people move to big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, these cities began to be extremely crowded. Hence, the house price was pushed to a level few people can afford. Things are getting worse recently. The price today is almost ten times as it was ten years ago. In China, if you have 1 million dollars, you can only buy an apartment about 1500 square feet in suburb. But you can buy a big house with a beautiful yard in Houston.

Other than the high living cost, the increasingly competitive job market is being blamed as another effect of increasing population in China. Each year China has nearly six million students graduated from universities. And this number is increasing with the larger population. Many graduated students can't find a satisfied job because of the fierce competition. People have to make full use of their spare time to learn more to keep their knowledge set updated, otherwise they probably would lose their job. This highly stressful life style is not...
