Motivation is drive and desire in people to be committed to a task or to achieve a target, which is stimulated by both internal factor, known as intrinsic motivation and external factor, known as extrinsic motivation (Feist & Feist, 2006). Both extrinsic and intrinsic motivations play their roles in an interact way to motivate people; intrinsic motivations are such as self-satisfaction, desire and enjoyment while extrinsic motivations are such as approval of others, satisfaction of needs of achievement, affiliation and power and rewards (Deckers, 2014).

The process of choosing the organisation is efficient because the group has clear focus and direction for this assignment. Knowing that this is an assignment weighted at 30 percent, it is important for the group to ensure that this assignment will be done on time and well. In order to get work done by the dateline, the decision on when and where to go is made very early and all members have committed themselves into this discussion to attain to a mutual agreement. The extrinsic motivation is the weightage of the assignment.

During the visit, all members complete the chores assigned to them without any issues. Members are trying to satisfy their self-need for competence, which is the feeling of capable and successful when dealing with a physical environment and the experience of pleasure when succeeding at a demanding task (Deckers, 2014). Need for competence is the foundation of self-determination theory, which is one of the intrinsic motivations.

Group members have mutually agreed to the responsibility on the written report assigned to each of them without doubts and questions, because each member is driven to complete this task as soon as possible to avoid dragging it to last minute. The need to affiliate, which is the third need that forms the foundation of self-determination theory, has motivated the team members because they have the intention to affiliate with each other (Deckers, 2014).
