Contract Cheating is newer and easier form of cheating. With the advent of the Internet, cheating on assignments is more tempting to some students. Buying an assignment instead of completing it yourself is academic dishonestly and morally/ethically wrong. Contract cheating is a form of academic dishonestly that while hard to detect, is not Christian like and has adverse effects for several people.

Contract cheating is the worse form of cyber-pseudepigraphy; it is defined as “Submitting original work has been produced for you for academic credit, without acknowledgement of the original source” (Clark & Lancaster 2007). It is not a victimless crime like students might think. People hurt might include: future employers, clients/customers, classmates, teachers, and the original writer. Students also fail to learn what the teacher is trying to teach. To try to combat the use of contract cheating, a teacher may use more exams instead of essay, or oral exams. The honor code is a good way to try to cut down of contract cheating as well as meeting with academic advisors often (at least once a term) (Walker & Townley 2012)

I learned that contrast cheating is academic dishonesty in its worst form. It’s hard to detect and has several victims. It is lying and deceitful plain and simple. The Bible talks about lying “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, with is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:9-10). As a born again Christian we are striving to be like Jesus. Jesus did not lie or cheat and neither should we? “No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes” (Psalm 101:7). God cannot stand lies and deceit in His presence. Therefore we need to be ever vigilant to do the right thing before God. The article did not surprise me.
