What are your thoughts on Globalization? What do you see are benefits and drawbacks? Do benefits outweigh drawbacks or vice versa?

In my research on Globalization, I have found several pros and cons from each point of view. In my own opinion I see Globalization as a vital ingredient to not only America’s future success but the entire globes. A huge benefit of globalization from my viewpoint is the education of cultures surrounding our own. Because of globalization we as a county are able to get a glimpse of life in other countries. Our country benefits greatly from other countries knowledge, innovation, and strategies. Because of globalization manufacturing companies in America were introduced 5S and JIT (Just In Time) Business methods. These two methodologies started in Japan. Because of Globalization manufactures, business owners and others in the business industry were able to witness the benefits of these processes and bring them into play for the benefit of companies in America.

It has been said of Globalization that many of our well paying jobs have been shipped to other countries where they have child labor, and “slave working” conditions. As consumers we sometimes forget to look at everyone’s perspective before jumping to conclusions. At the top of every company there is someone that is trying to make money for their company, just as anyone in the shoes of that business owner would, they are going to try to get the best “bang for their buck”. If they can get their work cheaper, they are going to. For the same reasons people may shop at Wal-Mart for their groceries as opposed to Kroger. To say this does not mean I agree, just that I can understand. On the topic of harsh working environments, and “child labor” laws, I think companies that choose to outsource to other countries could benefit from outsourcing Apple.
