Health Information Management (HIM) is defined as the practice of maintenance of the care of health records by the means of traditional and electronic in all health care facilities. HIM has been described to “play a critical role in the delivery of healthcare in the United States through their focus on the collection, maintenance and use of quality data to support the information-intensive and information-reliant healthcare system”. Along with the field they work with clinical, financial, coded healthcare data, epidemiological, demographic, and reference. Also known as Health Administrators they plan information systems, identify current and future information needs, and develop health policy. They have expertise in developing and managing effective processes and systems to assure the health care data to preserve the complete legal source of patient data, privacy, confidentiality, and security.
