Since the digital technology has developed dramatically, the demand of people wanting to share and expand the information immediately becomes increasingly wider than ever. Today, information is used as a great tool to not only gain knowledge but also work or study effectively and formed via some sorts of media, such as: TV, the internet, radio and newspaper. However, the internet is the technology that could provide people an instant access to information in anywhere and anytime. As Vint Cerf, who co-created the foundation of the internet, said “The notion that the world's knowledge is literally at your fingertips is very compelling and is very beguiling.” The internet’s democratization of information has made an endless amount of knowledge easily accessible, whereas it also brings many negative effects to its users. This research paper will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the Internet that influences the human society.

Firstly, one of the advantages is that the internet improves the efficiency in brain activity. Specifically, it results in human’s brain becoming active and developing some cognitive skills. According to UCLA Study (2009), the scientists established that revitalize neural activation patterns and brain function in older adults can be revitalized conceivably due to internet training. The research was based on a comparison between two groups of age from 55 to 78: people have and have not internet skills. After having taken the test, the UCLA team indicated that by searching and using the internet daily as a small and simple exercise for brain, people, especially older adults, could enhance their cognition and double the brain activity.
