Complete the Answers to Parts I, II, and III

Part I

1. What body systems are primarily affected and what physiological changes would you expect Joe and Frank to experience during such rigorous exercise?

Respiratory, circulatory, and muscular systems are primarily being affected. During this exercise, Joe and Frank’s heart rate will go up, they will lose their breathe easily, and their muscles will be tired.

2. List the symptoms Joe is manifesting on the 20th day of cycling.

3. Could Joe’s symptoms be explained by your answers to Question #1 alone?

Yes because Joe’s muscular system is working hard making him feel the tense, aching muscles. He feels fatigue because his heart rate is up.

2. What can you determine from the clinical lab results of Joe’s blood work and urinalysis?

You can determine that Joe has an infection because the number of neutrophils in his blood are above average. Also, his urine is dark meaning that he is not well hydrated with water.

3. What additional information or tests would you request?

You could request to get Joe’s heart rate checked to see how his circulatory system is doing.
