History of Greece

The geography of Greece has contributed to the way Greece has developed over the past hundreds of years. The terrain of Greece is very mountainous and rocky. Greece is also made up of many different islands. Greece is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea and also a little bit of the Black Sea. The terrain of Greece helped this civilization develop because it was surrounded by sea which made trade a lot easier.

Being on the coast was an important factor that helped Greece develop because it made trade with other countries easier. Being on the coast also made communication between people easier. People were able to sail to wherever they needed to go and could share ideas, messages and even their thoughts of philosophy. Besides trade, the sea was also helpful for travel. The sea helped people to travel from place to place easier because the terrain of Greece is all mountains. Mountains made traveling from place to place much longer while traveling by sea was less time consuming. The mountainous land also meant that the land in Greece was not fertile for farming so the people would fish for their food. The sea was not the only feature that helped develop Greece. Location also contributed.

The location of Greece also helped Greece develop because it is located around other countries. Greece is located in Eastern Europe near Italy and Egypt. The location was perfect for trading with other countries because Greece is located close to many river valley civilizations that also depended on trade. This eventually led to what we now know as international business.

People now use the idea of ancient Greece to conduct international affairs. People from different countries travel back and forth from country to country for business. Traveling overseas is also helpful for the military. The military would travel overseas to make their fleets stronger to help protect their country.
