a. Appeal to authority- B\by portraying his personal experience with the vehicle. He is giving you a reason to have one.

2) During a political debate about the federal budget, a candidate claims that his opponent can’t possibly have a good plan for the budget, since he has filed for bankruptcy in his personal life.

b. Ad hominem- he tries to win the debate by using personal information about his opponent to cripple his opponent’s chance of winning.

3) “Well, I have a tough decision to make. I have to pass algebra. I sit next to the smartest kid in the class and I could just cheat on tomorrow’s test, but I might get caught. But if I don’t cheat, I will fail!”

c. Slippery slope- he weights the pros and cons of cheating.

4) Marcus polls five students from his class regarding who they would vote for to be the next President of the United States. All five respond that they would vote for Barak Obama, and Marcus concludes that Obama will be re-elected.

d. Bandwagon- Marcus made a prediction off of a popular vote.
