The existential patriarchy that has been passed down generation to generation has created many barriers for woman, especially in the workplace. People have been conditioned to believe that men are superior to women, creating a type of gender segregation. This type of dilemma creates preconceived judgments on work ethic due to ones sex, ethnicity, and race, and is morally wrong.

I would of liked to interview all of these possible employees for this available position, but if I had to chose just one, I would chose Jyoti. She is the most suitable for the necessary duties, responsibilities, and appropriate skills needed for the job, in order to have a successful outcome. Her credentials make her more than qualified, and I also think this will be a positive change for the company. Being that in 2010, only thirteen or 2.6% of the Fortune 500 companies had a female CEO and only 15% of their Board members were female—79% white and 21% women of color (Catalyst, 2010). By bringing diversity in the workplace, I would increase organization effectiveness. Being that Jyoti has managed a wireless phone company’s regional sales office, along with having a solid background in all appropriate areas needed, I am confident she will be the perfect fit for the fiber optics division in the fortune 500.

I want to encourage gender equality in the workplace, not just so woman can be viewed as the exact same as a man but so each employee can receive the same amount of respect as one another. I think Jyoti portrays a strong ambitious woman that the company could most definitely benefit from. Combining an understanding of the process through which minority groups come to identify themselves with knowledge of federal rules and regulations concerning forms of discrimination helps promote cultural competence in the workplace, both at the individual and organizational level.
