2. Statement of the problem

According to the local newspaper, The Star on 19 July 2012, in the Central Metro column, it is stated that in a survey conducted by The Social Welfare Department in 2010, they counted 1387 people experiencing homelessness in Kuala Lumpur alone. However, according to the Non-Government Organization (NGO) who directly involved in the homeless welfare, it is estimated that the number of homeless are almost 10 000 people in Klang Valley area. Despite of its growth, many outsiders misunderstood about this problem. Public who do not know the reality live of the homeless usually blame them for their homelessness. Prejudices always think them as lazy, unmotivated people, being a burden and many more. Before these problems being worst, numerous NGO are stepping up and responsible to overcome this issue by providing basic necessities of homeless such as food, clothing, medicine and other assistance. By providing this aid, it is at least help them to survive their life even though they cannot fully satisfy the homeless desire.

In addition, public involvement invited by NGO in this charity could increase their concern for homelessness in Malaysia to more understand towards their life. Galeri Ilmu Sdn Bhd is one of the book publishers in Malaysia that always involve in many charity programmes. By conducting this event as part of their CSR, it is hopefully not only assist homelessness to survive their life by distribution of food but also could aid their kids in terms of their education by distributing GISB child magazine (Asuh).
