Review of Steve Biddulph’s “The New Manhood: The Handbook for a New Kind of Man”.

Steve Biddulph’s the New Manhood is a very influential book that evaluates the role that is played by men in modern day generations and the impacts of the way they lead their lives in general. This piece of literature has found great relevance the world over helping numerous men to realize ways to better position themselves as husbands and fathers. Women too find significance in the book by understanding how to better relate with and understand their husbands and sons as men. Biddulph openly discusses crucial topics responsible for unhappiness, frustration and purposelessness in the lives of men of all ages and backgrounds. Without doubt, the book is in simple terms about ‘being a man’. Nevertheless, it offers in-depth evaluations into manhood from varying perspectives that exist in the real world in addition to reviewing the impacts of culture and how they shape the character and behavior of people.

Steve Biddulph, who was born in the United Kingdom in 1953, is not only an Australian author but also a distinguished and legendary family therapist, psychologist and activist with global recognition and several bestselling books to his name. His book ‘The New Manhood’, discussed in this paper has made considerable input in understanding social perspectives of ‘Manhood’ for over two decades all over the world.

The past half century has witnessed massive changes in social ideologies among the different communities of the world.
