Post a 200- to 300-word response describing the results and what course of action you would take toward the student if you were the instructor.

• Describe the following to the student:

o Why plagiarism is dishonest.

o What other types of behavior constitute academic dishonesty.

Submitted the article to the Plagiarism Checker and according to the originally report the results show that there is a 99% similarity index. This is broken down further by showing us that 99% comes from internet resources, 66% from publications and 0% from student papers. In other words, the paper that would have been turned in was almost an exact copy of the original article entitled “Lab Courses Go Virtual” by Thomas F. Edgar.

I would describe to the student that Plagiarism is defined as presenting someone else's work as if you created and wrote it yourself and that it’s considered a serious offense that’s treated very harshly in academic institutions and it’s treated even more seriously in the business world. That is because in the business world it’s considered copyrighted and published material which makes any sentences, terms and written material property of the person who created them. In other words is a form of theft that brings consequences like a student receiving a failing grade for an assignment or even failing an entire course. In serious cases, instructors may also choose to report instances of plagiarism to administration which can result in being expelled from the institution. In the business world, one company could sue another for stealing website content causing the employee who stole it to get fired or even face trial for stealing property and costing his business money.
