Your supervisor enters your office and asks you for a check for $150.00 for

expenses he tells you he incurred entertaining a client last night. He submits

receipts from a restaurant and lounge. At lunch your supervisor’s girlfrie

by to pick him up for lunch and you overhear her telling the receptionist what a

great time she had at dinner and dancing with your supervisor the night before.

What do you do?

Think of a time in which you were faced with an ethical dilemma in business or at work.

When I was working in the Funds Transfer Department I was faced with an ethical dilemma. My GM came into my office with a manual payment order made out to him. All manual payments must have three different signatures from an executive manager, but cannot have your signature if you are the beneficiary. I immediately took the manual payment to my manager and told him that this was not the proper procedure for a manual payment. He acted as if he did not want to get involved and directed me to take the payment order to another manager. At this point I was confused I knew giving it to my staff to process was not the right thing to do. Then, I thought, well maybe the GM was not aware of the procedures (but was I suppose to question the GM)? It was either question the GM or be questioned by the Auditor when it was time to be audited. So I took the payment to the Controller and the Controller told me that he would take care of it and informed me that I did the right thing.
