CHEM 2070 Prelim #1 Tuesday October 5th at 7:30 pm. Room assignments posted to blackboard (see next slide) slide). None of the rooms are in Baker lab. Be sure you know how to get to your assigned room! Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to find a seat. You may have only a calculator (no wireless communication devices) and several pencils/erasers. The prelim will cover Chapters 1 5 and 8. The prelim will have 1-5 8 a periodic table with molar masses and a table of possibly relevant constants. Know the essential equations from memory: λν = c, ε = hν, E(n) = -RHZ2/n2, ΔE = Efinal – Einitial, KE = ½ mv2, d = m/V, concentration (M) = moles/liter of solution [ C = m/V] calculate m/V], molecular masses, etc. Same for concepts and “rules”: solubility, balancing redox rules : equations, names of polyatomic ions, acid/base, wavelengths for visible light, orbital names, quantum numbers, nodes, etc.
